I am a Jesus pusher!!! I do not want to know data or information about Him. I do not want to know history or theology concerning Him. I want to hear His voice. I want to see His lips part. I want to grasp His expression of the deep things of His. I want to be so close I feel His breath on my check as He communicates His mind to my mind. This requires intimacy; all walls must be removed. Oh, is my heart ready to hear Him? Does the texture of my inner most being respond to His molding? If He wants to speak to me, what could stop me from hearing?
Jesus discussed this with the Jews of Jerusalem. They claimed Abraham as their father. If Abraham was really their father, they would respond as Abraham, seeking and open. But they had another father. Jesus asked them, “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen (akouo) to My word,” (John 8:43). He boldly told them that their father was the devil. He concluded by saying, “He who is of God hears (akouo) God’s words: therefore you do not hear (akouo), because you are not of God,” (John 8:47).
If I hear and listen to His voice, I will be intimate with Him; I will know His thoughts. If I am intimate with Him, I will hear and listen to His voice; I will know His thoughts. Hearing and intimacy are closely related. They are the cause and effect of each other. I must know Him to hear Him; I must hear Him to know Him. “Jesus, whatever the consequences, speak to me!” I am a Jesus pusher!!!
