I am a Jesus pusher!!! I desperately want to hear the voice of Jesus! Not an audible voice, but the intent of His heart. Could He share His inner feelings and desires with me? The Jews of the Dispersion heard the Spirit of Jesus flowing through Peter. The truth went beyond argument and mere facts and pierced their hearts. Luke reports, Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37). The subject of the sentence is “those who are hearing.” The verb is the thorough piercing or pricking. The direct object receiving the action of this piercing is the heart. The Greek word (kardia) translated heart is common to us. The Old Testament focuses on the heart as the seat of the desires, feelings, affections, passions, and impulses. For the life of the flesh is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11). Obviously, as the blood circulates throughout the body, it comes from the heart and returns to the heart. The source of our life is found in the heart. This is the core of what makes us who we are.
This is where I want to know Him! Not in some casual or superficial way. Not in some religious way. I want to hear Him at the very core of my being. I want His Words to spill forth from my inner heart to affect every aspect of my living. I want all of life to be influenced by His speaking. Every pattern of action which is threatened by His voice must yield. I want to hear Him with the ears of my heart! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
