I am a Jesus pusher!!! Three to five thousand Jews of the Dispersion listened to Peter’s explanation of Pentecost. His instructions were very clear: “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,” (Acts 2:38). The Greek verb translated be baptized is singular in number. This fact is verified with the Greek word (hekastos) translated everyone. It is the idea of “each” or “separating or singling out.” Peter is calling them to repent, giving up their former thought concerning Jesus to embrace a second thought. If this takes place, they will be submerged, immersed into Jesus. Each individual will be singled out by Jesus. They will experience intimacy with Him as He personally becomes the base of their lives.
In becoming a Christian, I did not simply join a group of people who have a certain belief system. I am not one name among many on a membership list. I am not just one more face added to a large crowd. I am a selected individual attached to Jesus. His love is powerful and amazing. When I experience it, it seems as if I am the only one He loves. My mother always testified of being the favorite of Jesus. God does not have any grandchildren. I am His son; He is my Father. The intimacy of the relationship is beyond description. The most profound truth of the Scriptures is “God loves me!” It is not a theology; it is the reality of my life. I am His and He is mine. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
