I am a Jesus pusher!!! Jesus brought about a radical change. It is called the “New Covenant.” The role of the Old Testament prophet was to prepare us for the coming of the Kingdom of God. The law was its structure. In miniature form Israel attempted to act out the Kingdom of God as prophesied. Their failures were embarrassing. When Jesus came the Kingdom of God was present. A great shift took place. It was the difference between a shadow and the real thing. Our King is now here!
It is true; there is prophecy in the New Testament about our future. Prophecy did not cease at the end of the Old Testament. However, in the New Testament its appearance radically changes. The Old Testament prophet would relay to us what God told him. His opening statement would be “The Word of the Lord came unto me.” In the New Testament, the Spirit of Jesus speaks to every man individually. Even the Old Testament prophets spoke of the day when “No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord,” (Jeremiah 31:34). Jesus is the fulfillment of all the dreams of God for my life. Beyond Him there is nothing to be done or given. Every new thing to come will simply be the unfolding of His person in my life. If He is the essence of heaven and He is the “way,” when I am in Him I am already there. There is nothing left to be accomplished which is outside of His person. I am to focus on Him alone. I must not get sidetracked from Him. I will allow no other subject to dominate my attention. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
