Jesus Pusher 157

I am a Jesus pusher!!! Peter testified, and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation,” (Acts 2:40). The urgency to escape the pending peril is captured in the Greek word (apo) translated from. It expresses motion and change of location. It states the separation of a person or an object from another person or an object with which it was formerly united but is now separated. The Message by Eugene Peterson gives the correct emphasis, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!”

The main verb of this call is Be saved (sozo). It is in the imperative mood, making it a command. It has an assumed subject of “you.” However, it is in the passive voice. This means the subject is NOT responsible for the action of the verb, but is receiving the action from another source. In this statement, it is called a “Divine Action!” It is not stated in the verse, but is assumed due to all Peter preached. There is no emphasis in this verse to save oneself. We cannot reprogram our thought process. We cannot resist the culture in which we are raised. Family connection and religious practices have shaped our lives. We are a part of this perverse generation. If we cannot save ourselves, how will we be saved? Jesus is the answer! Will we allow Him to do for us what we cannot do. He made us aware of our need; He provides the understanding of the answer; He expresses His love and desire to save us. He has done everything up to this point. Will we let Him complete the task? Jesus is our salvation!!! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
