I am a Jesus pusher!!! I am not the only Jesus pusher. The early church believers were focused on Jesus. They stepped from the traditions of the scribes and Pharisees to the apostles’ doctrine (Acts 2:42). This means they moved from crucifying Jesus to embracing Him! It was actually a “state of being.” Luke writes, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship,” (Acts 2:42). The first Greek word (eimi) translated “they” is actually “they were.” In the first person it is “I am.” It is in the imperfect tense expressing the concept of “keeping on.” This is not a new series of activities, the study of a new philosophy, or the adopting of new religious ceremonies. This is a new spiritual location, a state of being. Jesus is the new location.
How can one actually dwell in Jesus? This terminology is used repeatedly in the New Testament. We are actually “in Christ.” We are also told again and again that Christ is in us! This is the wonder of a relationship so close it can only be expressed as “in.” His actual nature dwells within us; in response to His presence we become in Him. What drives Him now drives us. We take on the mind of Christ! It is described as “oneness,” “children,” and “bride.” We are intimate with Jesus! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
