I am a Jesus pusher!!! The early believers changed their location. They were now located in Jesus. Luke writes, And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42). One must not view this list as a series of activities. They were in a “state of being,” which is Jesus. Now he describes various aspects of this new location. The first one is apostles’ doctrine. The Greek word (didache) translated doctrine can be translated “teachings.” The single function of the apostles was to give witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus (Acts 4:33). This was not a testimony to the doctrine, concept, or idea of the resurrection of Jesus. It was a verification of the actual resurrected person of Jesus. In other words, they were constantly presenting the living Jesus. He is alive and you can know Him. He is your dwelling place.
It is one thing to learn about Jesus, it is another thing to learn Jesus. Their teaching was not ideas but presence. Our desire is not to highlight facts, but to embrace Truth. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” (John 14:6). Religious slogans do not help me in my crisis; I need someone greater than I am to intervene in my behalf. I need Jesus! I must embrace Him; He must embrace me. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
