I am a Jesus pusher!!! The early disciples continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine (Acts 2:42). “Saturation in His person” was contained in this teaching. However, “saturation in His Word” was also present. The Greek verb (proskartereo) translated they continued steadfastly emphasizes this. They did not attend a three-day seminar or meet for Wednesday evening Bible Study. Searching the Scriptures to see Jesus was a continuous daily practice. All their lives, the Law determined their living. Now Jesus became the lens through which they viewed the Law. The Living Word brought new life to the Written Word. They had saturated in the Scriptures in the past, but did not find Jesus (John 5:39). Now they knew Him; the Word came alive to them.
It is amazing! The moment you discover Him, you find Him everywhere in His Word. The revelation of His person becomes consistent. This is a proper discipleship program. Here is the curriculum. Every occasion must find Jesus through His Word. Every sermon must be an exposure of Him through His Word. I must saturate in Jesus through His Word. He speaks to me through His Word. He is the “Word!” He is not written material or stale ideas. He is the Living Person who is directly speaking to me through the Written Word. The Word is alive because He flows through it. In His embrace, I hear Him speak and understand. “They continued steadfastly!” I am a Jesus pusher!!!
