I am a Jesus pusher!!! We discovered the early believers were constantly in prayer (Acts 2:42). Matthew also used the Greek word (proseuchomai) translated prayers when recording Jesus’ cleansing of the temple. Jesus gave explanation for His dramatic actions by stating, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of thieves,” (Matthew 21:13). Notice, the temple was neither a house of “intercession” nor a house of “supplication.” It was a house of “prayer.” It was not just a location where men asked for something. It was a place of sacrificial offerings, worship, cleansing, and activities related to relationship with God. It would be like calling your home a “house of marriage.” Everything connected with marriage is contained within that house. Eating, crying, laughing, resting, planning, dreaming, and loving all occur in this house. It is a place where two lives intersect.
Prayer is not about the position of the body or the tone of your voice. It is about all the activities and aspects, which pertain to intimacy with Jesus. It is conversations with Him and about Him. It is worship and singing, eating and knowing He provided it, and each moment “practicing His Presence.” You are living in Him. Life is found only in Jesus. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
