I am a Jesus pusher!!! Christianity is often called “A Religion of Having!” Luke described the early church as “having” (echo) all things in common (Acts 2:44). Are you surprised to learn that you belong to God? He has total rights to your life. Jeremiah referred to Israel as God’s possession (Jeremiah 10:16). The prophecy of Isaiah was based on this great truth. But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine,” (Isaiah 43:1).
This is a vital truth in the New Testament. Paul wrote, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have (echo) from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19). We are His! Tommy and his father worked diligently to make a toy sail boat worthy of their local lake. Tommy was so excited on the day they first launched that little boat. Many wonderful days followed when he enjoyed sailing his boat along the shore. One day the wind caught the sails and the boat moved beyond Tommy’s reach. He lost his boat. Several days passed by. Then one day as he walked past the local pawnshop, he saw his boat. He must buy it back. He worked for weeks to earn enough money to buy it back. Tommy accomplished the task and hurried to the pawnshop. With the boat in his hands he exclaimed, “You are mine twice. I made you and I bought you back!” You twice belong to Jesus. He made you; He bought you back! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
