I am a Jesus pusher!!! The Greek word (echo) translated “had” is relational (Acts 2:44). It does not refer to physical, materialistic things. The Scripture presents the proposition that we belong to God. Jesus is our Creator and our Redeemer. He made us and He bought us back. However, it is absolutely incomprehensible that we can possess God. In the Old Testament, the Levites were to have God as their possession. All of the other tribes were given land, but not the Levites. God was their inheritance (Deuteronomy 10:9). The Book of Psalms proposes, ‘O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup,” (Psalms 16:5).
In the New Testament, John writes, “Whoever denies the Son does not have (echo) the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has (echo) the Father also,” (1 John 2:23). “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have (echo) God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has (echo) both the Father and the Son,” (2 John 9). Because Jesus created and redeemed us He owns and possesses us. We own and possess Him because He gives Himself to us! He reconciled us to embrace us. We are His; He is ours! Now I belong to Jesus; Jesus belongs to me! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
