I am a Jesus pusher!!! INDIVIDUALITY is an important concept. The culture of Galilee was made of both farming and fishing. And Jesus walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen (Matthew 4:18). The call to join Him was especially designed for fishermen. He spoke their language; He appealed to their understanding in the context of their daily lives. He designed this call for the individual to whom He was speaking.
What does this mean? Is Jesus only calling fishermen? Perhaps I am a vinedresser whose entire experience is related to vineyards. Jesus designed a parable just for me (Matthew 21:33-40). He spoke my language and called me to the responsibility of my personal vineyard. What if I am a shepherd? Jesus spoke directly to the shepherding culture of His day (Matthew 18:10-14). In the Parable of the Lost Sheep, the heart of the Father is expressed in the language of a shepherd. I need to get my staff in order to be used by the Father in my world. Perhaps I am a simple housewife trying to balance the financial budget of my household. Jesus speaks directly to me in the Parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10). Maybe I am simply a father who cares for his family. Does Jesus not call me to join the Father’s heart for His lost sons? Who could misunderstand the Parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11-32)? Whatever your culture, career, or situation in life, Jesus calls you! He designs a message in your language; He shapes His call to your scene. Jesus is calling you! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
