I am a Jesus pusher!!! He spent forty days with them in a resurrection appearance. How desperately they needed the infallible proofs of this time. The climax to this teaching would be His parting words, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth,” (Acts 1:8). This verse is so specific. “ . . . in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). If Jesus had only pointed to the end of the earth, the disciples would have focused on the remote regions and lost sight of their neighbors. If He only said in Jerusalem, they would have stayed in their Jewish organizational structure and settled to be a sect. He gave a clear call to their demonstration of His life to their world.
It included the religious organization that crucified Jesus; it reached out and engulfed the Samaritans. It was to be a complete demonstration of the life of Jesus all the time to everyone. There were to be no limits to the demonstration Christ’s Christ through the disciples. It was fulfilled in the Book of Acts. The disciples demonstrated the life and power of Christ to the crippled beggar (Acts 3:6) and to the rulers (Acts 4:5). It took place through Philip for a man from Ethiopia, (Acts 8:27) and those who persecuted the disciples of the Lord, (Acts 22:20). There were no limits to the demonstration of Jesus through the lives of the disciples. Am I a disciple? I am a Jesus pusher!!!
