I am a Jesus pusher!!! The disciples respond immediately to the call of Jesus (Matthew 4:20). This is the pattern of the Scriptures. In chapter three of the Book of Hebrews, there is a strong call to an immediate response. He uses the word “today” repeatedly. He quotes from the Book of Psalms stating what the Holy Spirit says. “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,” (Hebrews 3:7-8). He continues his emphasis by encouraging everyone to exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13). He continues to quote the Book of Psalms, “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion” (Hebrews 3:15). It must be noted that this same quotation is made again in the next chapter (Hebrews 4:7). The repetition of this quote gives us the strength of his emphasis. There must be an immediate response.
Paul writes with this same kind of urgency. He writes; “We . . . plead with you,” (2 Corinthians 6:1). Then he projects this urgency into a call for immediate response writing; “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). It will never be easier for you to respond to Jesus. The circumstances will never be better or more conducive to your surrender to Him. Every day that passes without total response to Jesus only complicates relationships, circumstances, and your own inner heart. This is your moment! I commit to immediate response to Jesus.
