I am a Jesus pusher!!! A basic element in discipleship is obviously an EXTERNAL following. This was a strong element of the Jewish culture. There were many “disciples” who were designated as apprentices. In the Jewish setting, a disciple would select his teacher. The disciple received his value and esteem from the fame and importance of his teacher. In the New Testament, there were disciples of Moses (John 9:28), of the Pharisees (Matthew 22:16), of John the Baptist (Mark 2:18), and some indication of Paul (Acts 9:25). Certainly to be a disciple of Jesus was to externally attach oneself to Him. This physical attachment has strong precedence in the Old Testament. Joshua, the assistant of Moses, went where Moses went. Together Moses and Joshua ascended the mountain of the Lord (Exodus 24:13). Joshua was so diligent and faithful to Moses that he waited on the mountainside for him, staying forty days and forty nights until Moses returned with the tablets (Exodus 32:15-17).
I am a Jesus pusher, physically attached to Jesus. Think of “Christ in you,” (Colossians 1:27). Comprehend your entire physical existence coming under the control and presence of His person. Live in the reality of all the involvements of your physical life controlled by Him. What does this change? His presence and direction in your life can change old habits, eating patterns, wasting of energy, body drives, and interaction with others. What could be withheld from Jesus? I am a surrendered Jesus pusher!!
