I am a Jesus pusher!!! If people are the central issue with Jesus, how many would be enough? The number is INNUMERABLE! Matthew makes no attempt to count the miracles or the number of sick. Look at the words he uses: all kinds of sickness, all kinds of disease (Matthew 4:23), all Syria, all sick people, He healed them (Matthew 4:24), Great multitudes, from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan (Matthew 4:25). Can you fathom the numbers of people involved?
There were two occasions which required feeding the crowd before they returned home. Jesus was concerned and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way” (Matthew 15:32). The number of this crowd was four thousand men, besides women and children. In a previous setting Jesus fed five thousand men, besides women and children (Matthew 14:21). During Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Pharisees reacted to the great crowd by saying, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!” (John 12:19). We must not be content with just our little group. We cannot maintain our church facility and enjoy our fellowship. We are driven by the heart of Jesus to win our world. Do you have the mind of Christ? I am a driven Jesus pusher!!!
