I am a Jesus pusher!!! We must clearly understand that the gospel (good news) is about the Kingdom. The Kingdom is about Jesus; therefore, He is the good news. If Jesus is the Kingdom, we must carefully consider what it means to be in Him (the Kingdom) and what it means for the Kingdom to be in us. The Kingdom naturally takes on the characteristics and mannerisms of the King. Who He is, what He desires, His passion must naturally become mine. The moment I embrace Him, His heart becomes my heart. What is His heart? It becomes very obvious as we saturate in our passage. The call of Jesus to the disciples is to “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19). They are to attach themselves to Him. The automatic result of such a relationship will be “and I will make you fishers of men,” (Matthew 4:19). It is the by-product of engaging Him. The creative flow of His Spirit will shape and mold them into fishers of men. They can choose to embrace Him or not embrace Him; but they cannot choose the consequences of their choice. If they choose to embrace Him, they will become expressions of His heart’s passion. It is others.
Our focus is always on Jesus. We are not task oriented. The Kingdom is not a career or job to accomplish. We do not meet quotas. We are people who are captured by Jesus. He spills His heart through us to win our world. Who will engage their world with the message of Jesus? It is the people who possess the heart of Jesus. Why would anyone embrace the need of someone else? It is because the heart of Jesus, the One they love, compels them. Why would someone go out of their way to win others to Jesus? The Kingdom is within them; what drives the King also drives them. I am a driven Jesus pusher!!!
