I am a Jesus pusher!!! There is theological controversy over the Messianic passage stated in the prophecy of Isaiah. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Forgiveness is found through His sufferings, the cross. However, the debate is over what else may be granted to us through His sufferings. Does “by His stripes we are healed” signify we can expect to be continually healed of every sickness as a provision of the cross? Whatever you may conclude about this issue, it is evident that the sacrificial death of Jesus does embrace the physical needs of my life. The cross of Jesus was not a bandage on the oppression of the demonic authority of the Kingdom of darkness. It was an invasion and overthrow of that authority.
The healing miracles of Jesus demonstrated the nature of God’s kingdom as health-giving, down-to-earth, and relevant to the daily problems of the entire person. These miracles revealed the compassionate character of Jesus toward ordinary, undervalued individuals, degraded by Satan. The healing miracles left no doubt that a new power was at work in the world. A Spirit sourced Man was aggressively invading the devil’s territory. I want to be such a Jesus filled person. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
