I am a Jesus pusher!!! There is another level of mourning (Matthew 5:4); we become deeply aware of the condition of others. In recognizing our helplessness and mourning over every moment we source ourselves, we become aware of the self-sourcing of our world. David cried out, “Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because men do not keep Your law” (Psalms 119:136). Men grab tightly to successes in business, athletics, education, and a thousand other areas to compensate for the fact they are helpless. We have power struggles in our organizations because we attempt to overcome our state of poverty. We live for applause and self-gratification; it enables us to deny that we are poor in spirit. Once we see this in our life, we then see it in others. We mourn our denial of poverty and we weep continuously for the plight of those around us.
Paul expressed the mourning within himself and creation. There is an earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God (Romans 8:19). He went on to explain that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body (Romans 8:22-23). This mourning is the driving force of evangelism. If you are not aggressively winning others to Jesus, you are not mourning; if you are not mourning, you have not adequately embraced your helplessness. Jesus is the solution. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
