I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). In the Gospel of John, Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as “The Comforter” (Parakletos) four times. In the Epistle of First John, John refers to Jesus as “The Comforter” one time. Jesus clarifies this by saying, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Parakletos)” (John 14:16). The Greek word “allos,” translated another, becomes important. It means “another but of the same kind.” It is in contrast to the Greek word “heteros” meaning “another qualitatively, other, different one.” The indwelling of the Spirit is of equal quality to Jesus. Jesus designates the Holy Spirit as equal with Himself.
Everything Jesus was in the flesh with the disciples, the Spirit of Jesus will be in the believer and more. The revelation and involvement of His presence in us is taken to a greater level. Can you imagine aiding, coming alongside a limp and helpless glove? You carefully lift each finger trying to improve its abilities. You can speak with the most detailed instructions, but nothing happens; the glove is helpless. The answer is not found in outside comfort; it must come from within the glove. When the hand is implanted within the glove everything changes. It is not instruction; it is empowerment. It is not prompting; it is provision. He is our comfort. The fullness of His presence in the believer is the relationship with the Kingdom. The poor in spirit are to be congratulated for they are in the Kingdom of Heaven. It would be better to say, “Congratulations, the Kingdom of Heaven is in you.” Mourning is the state of receptivity that recognizes the state of helplessness and embraces His presence. The Comforter has come! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
