I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,” (Matthew 5:4). Comfort never finds its source in what we do. It comes from beyond us. We must not live within the realm of our capacity; we must live beyond our limits. In embracing our helplessness, we naturally live in mourning. The interaction of these two elements is only possible because Jesus reveals it to us. The moment we respond He becomes our comfort. Jesus is everything your mind can conceive in comfort! Jesus is not an idea; He is a Person outside of, and independent from us. Some try to convince us that positive thinking brings a storehouse of comfort, but that is a rejection of our state of helplessness. There is only One who can “be” comfort in us and that is Jesus. He must act on us.
The statement, “I do my part; God does His part,” brings no comfort to the helpless. Our state of helplessness embraces the inability to do our part. When have we ever done our part? We mourn over our failure to meet the slightest degree of righteousness. The best we can accomplish on our brightest day is filthy rags in His sight. We are ignorant of our helplessness unless He reveals it. So from the start to the finish, it is Jesus. I must respond moment by moment to Him: He is my Comforter. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
