I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). Throughout Paul’s discourse in Galatians about this inheritance, he consistently refers to “faith.” He says, “But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for ‘the just shall live by faith.’ Yet the law is not of faith, but ‘the man who does them shall live by them’” (Galatians 3:11-12). Faith is “invoking the activity of the second party.” Faith is admitting and embracing my helplessness in order that One greater than I might source me. Faith is consistently saying: “I cannot; I am not adequate; I am helpless.” It is in this state of being that I embrace Jesus; He establishes the Kingdom in me.
The difficulty of this issue is that we all have lived under the Law (doing). This method of self-sourcing became our pattern. We must not misunderstand the role of this Law. Paul wrote: “But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:23-26). We must embrace our helplessness and “invoke the activity of Jesus!” No wonder I am a Jesus pusher!!!
