I am a Jesus pusher!!! We are continually brought back to the progression found in the Beatitudes. It begins with the absolute helplessness and complete dependency of the inner spirit (Matthew 5:3). We never move beyond this condition. When an all-sufficient God and an all-insufficient man embrace, the Kingdom of Heaven is produced. We do not enter into the Kingdom; we become the Kingdom. “A new creature” is born in this embrace. When such poverty of spirit is embraced, mourning is experienced (Matthew 5:4). Mourning is the atmosphere allowing and causing us to respond to our Comforter.
The quality most evident from this relationship is “meekness” (Matthew 5:5). It is a distinct calmness toward God. It is the quality of the heart accepting God’s dealing as good in that it enhances the closeness of relationship with Him. I am content in Him and His plan. This gives me one focus, hunger, and thirst (Matthew 5:6). I must have Him! All other drives of the human body and spirit are overridden with this one passion. I realize my need for Jesus as the singular satisfaction of the soul. All other attempts to find satisfaction (from talent, knowledge, materialism, and self-righteousness) are square pegs in round holes. Only Jesus is adequate to fill the deep cavern of my soul! I hunger and thirst for Him! Nothing and no one else is considered. He is my One focus. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
