I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled,” (Matthew 5:6). Biblically we are portrayed as the bride of Christ. We are preparing for the great wedding. The passion of the bride is for the bridegroom. She cannot stop speaking about him. She is so in love; her passion is for him. If her passion is focused on how much money he has, this indicates a problem. Woe to us if streets of gold or mansions become our passion. How misguided we are when solutions to our problems or health and wealth become our focus. Jesus must captivate us.
Biblically we are portrayed as sons of God. It is tragic when a son only cares about his future inheritance. When his passion is to use his father for the fulfillment of his own personal dream, something has gone wrong. The son loves the father. His father is of greater value than the inheritance. The passion of the son is his father. This is the passion being expressed in this Beatitude. Our “hunger and thirst” is for the person of Jesus. Everything else shrinks in light of Him. All other issues are minor in light of His embrace. We hunger and thirst exclusively for His embrace. Paul cried, “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:7-8). Is this my single focus! He is my righteousness! I am a Jesus pusher!!
