I am a Jesus pusher!!! Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7). FEELING is another aspect of merciful. Mercy is not an obligation, duty, or law. Law or duty reshapes mercy into pride and arrogance. Mercy motivated by superiority demonstrates self-centeredness. Therefore, mercy is never an act or a performance; it is always an embrace or feeling. One is merciful because an emotion is aroused by someone else’s affliction.
If being merciful is a simple deed, it is a feat we can achieve. Because it is an emotion, no amount of discipline can produce mercy. Genuine mercy flows from a merciful individual who has this characteristic because of his internal state of being. Jesus embraces the poor in spirit and that individual becomes the kingdom of heaven in that relationship. The Comforter comes to abide in the person who mourns. Meekness, the nature of Jesus, brings a new attachment to everything physical. Hunger and thirst highlights an expansion and continuation of the believer’s filling with Jesus. Who is surprised when mercy flows from the heart of the believer? How can it not? It is an expression of the mind of Christ! The believer is merciful; he cannot be other than he is! It is because of Jesus. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
