I am a Jesus pusher!!! The guarantee of the product is important to me. How secure is forgiveness and mercy? Can I be sure forgiveness will not be revoked? How can I know mercy covers my debt? The strength of the guarantee is found in Jesus’ person. He is the guarantee. If He is fickle, then mercy can change to punishment. If He changes His mind, then mercy can be limited. Everything depends on His stability. Listen to the writer of Hebrews. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). “But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:24-25). “Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 6:17-20).
Jesus is my state of mercy. His embrace guarantees my mercy. I must not abandon my state of mercy. The church is not my guarantee. My own goodness is not my guarantee. Only in Him do I find security. I will not stray from Him. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
