I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9). Congratulations! We are in a state of helplessness, “poor in spirit.” We are destitute of every resource needed. How did we get in such a position? God created us this way. It was His intent from the beginning. We were created to be dependent not independent. His unlimited resource comes to embrace us. In the unity of our helplessness and His Person, we become the Kingdom of God. This is the new creature of the New Covenant. We mourn in our state of helplessness. We never step outside the boundary of our helplessness. It enables us to respond to His comfort. The Comforter comes to embrace us. As His nature fills us meekness fills our lives. We relate to our physical existence in a healthy manner. Our hunger and thirst for Him is filled, only to experience expanded hungering and thirsting to be filled again and again. No wonder we are being congratulated.
The state of mercy in which we dwell produces mercy extended to all our relationships. In the embrace of His person we experience His heart. It is a heart of purity. Within us and from us peace reigns. How would you characterize such a relationship? What would be an adequate title for this intimacy? Is there a descriptive term to capture how He has reached us? It is sons of God. What a position of honor we now have! It describes the depth of His involvement in sourcing our lives as well as the depth of intimacy He has with us. We are one with Him.
