I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:12). God CHOSE the prophet. The message of God became his message. Often they themselves did not fully understand the total implications of the message. There was an intimacy between the prophet and God that no one else had. They were so tightly connected that God’s message was their message. When the people responded to the message, they were not responding to the prophet; they were responding to God. Whatever they did to the prophets, they were doing to God.
If this was true of a unique, small group of people in the Old Covenant, the new individual of the Kingdom of Heaven is beyond belief. In his helplessness he is embraced by the unlimited resource of God. Thus, the Kingdom is formed. This individual is such an intricate part of the Kingdom; he is the Kingdom in intimacy with God. The Comforter comforts him. The nature of God flows through him; he lives in an expanded filling which causes him to dwell in a state of mercy, purity and peace. He sees God and is called a son of God. If the persecution of the prophets was actually a persecution of God, how much more it is true of those of the Kingdom. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad for your unity with Jesus! No persecution could overshadow the reality of His presence! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
