I am a Jesus pusher!!! Jesus takes the hard-fast rule of the Old Testament and makes it an invitation to join Him in the revelation of His person. God told us of His holiness; “You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy” (Leviticus 11:45). God is holy; what does that mean? I have no way of putting content to this holiness. I do not live in God’s world, think His thoughts, or know His structure. God communicated this holiness to us through The Law. He said, “If I were a man, living in your world, here is how I would act.” The Law, His Word, became an expression of His heart. Now He has gone beyond this; He became man and lived among us. Now God’s holiness is in the person of Jesus. But even then, Jesus is still someone I read about or look on. No! He comes to indwell me in intimacy. The “living out of God” takes place in and through me as He interacts with me through the Scriptures. His Word, the Scriptures, become a revelation, a foundation, for my relationship with Him. The Living Word, Jesus, communicates to me through His Written Word, the Bible.
Jesus did this for His disciples; “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me” (Luke 24:44). Then Luke wrote, “And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures” (Luke 24:45). If He could do this for His disciples in His physical presence, what can He do when He indwells me with His Spirit? This is the fulfillment of His promise, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). What a wonder! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
