I am a Jesus pusher!!! There appear to be some basic principles expressed in the applications Jesus gave regarding the Law. The first one is “The Spirit of the Law.” Jesus is the Spirit of the law. The second principle is “The Support of the Law.” The Law speaking of an outward action is doing so to focus on the inner attitude. A good outward act is validated before God only when it honestly represents what is on the inside. Jehovah said, “I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:10). In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus did not modify the Law of Moses, the teaching of the Psalms, the standards of the prophets, or any other part of Scripture. Everything He taught was in agreement with every truth, every word, of the Old Testament. He revealed that the Jewish oral traditions did not meet this criterion.
The third principle is “The Subject of the Law.” The subject of the Law is deeper than the law itself. In other words, the Law is not an end itself. The real subject is not just the righteousness of human being. The ultimate subject and purpose of the Law is to glorify God Himself. In other words, the law of God is an expression of God’s heart. The heart of God is the essence of who He is. In merging with Him, we think like He thinks, want what He wants, and act like He acts. Jesus is seen through us and thus glorified. I must experience the fullness of Jesus to accomplish this. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
