I am a Jesus pusher!!! Perhaps you think the illustrations given for the effect of being salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) in previous studies is extreme. It is easy to say these situations have never happened to me. But let it be known to us all that this is happening through and to each of us. There is a mystical flow of spiritual life influencing everyone around us. We are consistently changing our world. Oh, to be filled with Jesus, intimate with His presence, until such powerful movements of His presence are felt by everyone around us. We tend to live our daily lives going through our routine of existence without awareness of what we leave behind us. We march into our local stores dedicated to securing an item. We leave totally unaware of what happened to the spiritual realm of that store. How were the eternal destinies of people affected? This is the consideration of “accomplishment.” Oh, to be in Christ and become salt and light!
A second factor for consideration is “assessment.” Since we cannot do this, we do not know what is accomplished. Since we cannot know what is accomplished, we cannot measure it; therefore, we do not know how well we accomplished our mission. Again, this eliminates all pride of a job well done. Self-centeredness is focused on self-assessment. We derive our value from what we accomplish. Everything changes when we are filled with His presence. Our value and worth are derived from Him. Each person within our reach must be brought into His presence. How will it affect them? What will be the long-range results? This is all unknown to us! I am willing just to be His! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
