I am a Jesus pusher!!! We have viewed the “affect” of our state of being. It is a verb describing the action of the state of being, which brings about the results. The results are called “EFFECT.” This word is a noun describing the consequence of the action of the Spirit flowing from us. As hard as it is to describe the mystical flow of the Spirit that makes us salt and light (Matthew5:13-16), so it is hard to describe the “effect.” There is no way to fully know the extent or scope of the results. However, there is a definite concrete aspect to this mystical flow of Jesus through our lives.
The one thing plainly described in our passage is the focus of the results. It is always about others. The “effect” is never for one’s personal benefit. There is no mention of rewards in the future. There is nothing we can do to earn our eternal home. It is simple; this is the way you are. You are “poor in spirit.” You are embraced with the greatness of His Spirit. In this intimacy, you become the Kingdom of God. Within and without you are filled and flow with mercy and peace. This produces a state of being with influence. A parable of this state is salt and light. The result of this state is always for the benefit of others. The heart of Jesus was always for others; I want His mind and heart. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
