I am a Jesus pusher!!! “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned” (Matthew 5:13)? This is a parable or metaphor concerning the disciples, which we must apply to our lives. I am poverty stricken and helpless; Jesus is the resource for my life. The Kingdom of Heaven is formed through the uniting of my helplessness and Jesus’ resource. Who I am and who He is! The result is that we influence my world. I can never develop enough skills or techniques to achieve influence in my world. I do not need training seminars on “how to do it,” or motivation to stimulate me. I am simply not the Kingdom! The Kingdom does not need to put the Kingdom back into the Kingdom. As you cannot enable salt to be salt, so you cannot enable Kingdom people to be Kingdom people. It is simply who they are!
The focus is my helplessness being embraced by His nature. In this merger we become a new creature called the Kingdom. As salt naturally effects its surroundings so the Kingdom person naturally alters his environment. The early Church in the Book of Acts saw the world converted to Christianity within seventy years. It is significant Luke does not write in this book about talent or personality types. He down-plays education by showing us situations in which the apostles are referred to as “uneducated and untrained men” (Acts 4:13). However, he says that the presence of Jesus was responsible for the demonstration. The explanation in the Book of Acts is never focused on the disciples but is always focused on their lives being filled with the Spirit of Jesus. This is the single factor. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
