I am a Jesus pusher!!! “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).Let’s turn to some of the great statements of Jesus. He said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12). The Greek word “echo,” translated “have,” means to hold as a possession, implying continued possession. Engrained in the “following” of Jesus is the possession of who He is; He is the light of the world. We are coming back to the awareness that as He was the light of the world, so in the same manner we are the light of the world. Jesus was filled with the Father and radiated with the light of His presence, and we are filled with Jesus and radiate the light of His presence. The Father source Jesus and now Jesus is sourcing us, giving us what He has! He brings us to His level in the fullness of the New Covenant.
Jesus said, “While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light” (John 12:36). In the preceding paragraph we told you the Greek word “echo,” translated “have,” means to hold as a possession, implying continued possession. Through faith (invoking the activity of the second party) will they become this same light? Paul said, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light” (Romans 13:12). We are to “cast off” (apotithemi), meaning “to put aside, lay aside, or eliminate and “put on” (enduo), means “to sink down into as a garment.” The Greek word “hoplon,” translated “armor,” means an instrument, a tool, an implement, or a weapon of war. We are to run from anything that slightly resembles darkness and run into everything that is light. Sinking down into the light is your weapon for defeating everything the darkness. You are the weapon! “You are the light of the world.” Sink into Jesus! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
