I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:15). We can easily apply this to our lives. Congratulations! You are the Kingdom of Heaven. Your poverty-stricken life is filled with the wonder of His presence and resource. In Him, you are a new creature. Will you influence your world? How could you not? The design of who you are in Him bespeaks the purpose of making Him visible before your world. If you hide in secret, you work against the destiny of your existence. The focus of Jesus’ discussion does not regard how to produce light, or even on the necessary oil. It is about visibility. We must display the Kingdom of God in our lives.
We could give a lengthy discourse on the baskets in our lives used to hide the light, going from materialism to sexual addictions, including hobbies or careers. The essence of all is self-sourcing. Only one thing stands in the way of Christ revealed to our world; it is self. But if self is present to cover the light, how will there be light? If we are not helpless, how will we embrace His presence? How will He shine through our lives? The destiny and purpose of our lives are defeated by self-sourcing. Anyone desiring fulfillment in their lives must embrace their helplessness. It is in our helplessness Jesus shines forth. Any debris of self-sourcing produces baskets to destroy visibility. We are Jesus pushers!!!
