I am a Jesus pusher!!! In the spiritual realm, God does not separate Himself from light. Spiritual light is not created but is who He is! In other words, He is the source of the light. The Old Testament boldly presents God as the source of light for daily living. David wrote, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalms 119:105). However, He is the source of all light for our lives is the gigantic truth that He is light. Again, David wrote, “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light” (Psalms 36:9). The New Testament writers were distinct and transparent in their statements of this truth, “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). “God” and “light” are both singular, nominative nouns. They are connected with a form of the Greek verb “eimi,” translated as “is,” which is the Greek verb for the great “I am” statements. “God” and “light” are equal; they are words for the same thing.
“And in Him is no darkness at all” strengthens the reality of light. “At all” is a translation of the Greek word “oudemia.” It means “not even one.” John has given a double negative to convince us of the complete absence of darkness in God. Paul writes to Timothy, “Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:16). God’s dwelling place is a state of “unapproachable light.” “Unapproachable” is a translation of the Greek word “aprositon.” It is a combination of “a” meaning “without” and “proseimi.” “Proseimi” is a combination of “pros” meaning “unto” and “eimi,” meaning “to be.” Therefore, “unapproachable” is the inability to come into a state of being. God is an “unapproachable light.” In my helplessness, He has come to me! I am His, and He is mine! I am an expression of who He is! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
