I am a Jesus pusher!!! We must picture God sitting on His throne. From the very core of His inner nature and being flows light. The light is not the product of fire burning and consuming God’s material because that would make fire greater than God and responsible for the production of the light. God is not a light bulb through which great electricity flows, producing light. That would mean that God is a mere instrument in the hands of something bigger than Himself. At His core is the essence of light. He is not making or producing light; He is light. His nature is shining. He is “light.” How does one picture such brilliant light at the core of spiritual life? We can speak of truth, righteousness, or holiness in which there is no deception, darkness, or sin. But it does not give the imagery of brilliancy, as does light. The Scriptures attempted to capture this in the word “glory.” It is brilliancy, light, shining, radiance, and perspective all in one word. At the core of God’s essence is light, the dynamic of spiritual truth!
The Scriptures refer to the physical being like a shadow or copy of the real, which exists in the spiritual. Paul wrote, “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ” (Colossians 2:16-17). The author of the Book of Hebrews contrasts the priesthood of Jesus with the priesthood produced by the Law. The priests of Levi’s tribe “serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things” (Hebrews 8:5). The imagery of physical light offers us a profound insight into the essence of God. If the physical light is a copy or shadow of God who is light, how does that look? We are distributors of that light. We are Jesus pushers!!!
