I am a Jesus pusher!!! “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13). It is a mystery! Jesus presented this wonder to us in the Beatitudes. It is the “poor in spirit” that are enabled to participate in the Kingdom’s forming. We have absolute poverty and are destitute. When Jesus, who is my total resource, fills my helplessness, that filling forms the Kingdom of Heaven. Because of our helplessness, we live in a state of mourning. The mourning is as severe as the helplessness. It is a constant and deep recognition of our state. Could it be this is the fuel allowing Him to consume us? The moment the slightest self-sufficiency appears in our relationship with Him, our burning ceases. It is in our consistent embracing of death that we live. In the constant recognition of our weakness, we are made strong. In our moment-by-moment embracing of dependency, we are set free!
Jesus went on to explain, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). It is in our hunger that Jesus fills us, and in our thirst, He satisfies us. The amazing factor is the continuation of such! I am so hungry, yet He fills me. But the very filling gives me an increased hunger for more, yet He fills me. The satisfaction is within the hunger itself. What a mystery! Jesus consumes me, yet I live. I constantly lose myself to Him, yet I find myself. I am continually decreasing, yet He is always increasing within me. I am not disappearing but finding my fulfillment and destiny. In Him, I become the “light of the world.” I am burned and consumed by His presence! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
