I am a Jesus pusher!!! He is King of the Kingdom of God. He has included me as an avenue for the display of His reign! The devil attempts to defeat Jesus three times at the close of forty days of temptation. The third attempt deals with His reign as King (Matthew 4:8-10). The devil must win on this issue or experience constant war against his Kingdom of darkness. He lost this battle during the birth of the new King. All his efforts to eliminate the new King have failed. Now is his chance!
As they stand on an exceedingly high mountain, the devil offers Him a proposition. He displays, allows Him to see, all the kingdoms of the world and their glory (Matthew 4:8). The Greek word (doxan) translated glory comes from the idea “to think” or “to suppose.” It is value or worth from your opinion or perspective. The devil shows Jesus everything which he considers valuable. He is sure Jesus will not be able to refuse it. Instead of Jesus being King over the Kingdom of God which is just being established, He could be King over the Kingdom of darkness already well populated. All the power, wealth, evil, perversion, self-centeredness, hatred, and jealousy could be His. He could be self-sourced and reign over it all. Jesus is repulsed by the very idea. There is no temptation at all; He has the perspective, opinion of the Kingdom of God, the sourcing of the Spirit. Jesus is my Hero, my King. I want to be so sourced by Him that I only have His opinion. Could all the allurements of this world repulse me because I am sourced by Him? Can I become His territory established by His reigning? Can I have the mind of Christ? I am a Jesus pusher!!!
