I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Let your light so shine before men” (Matthew 5:16). Accepting our helplessness and responding to His resource allows His presence to invade our flesh. We become the Kingdom of God. Jesus describes this as “light.” We do not produce the light or even offer a resource for the existence of the light. The light simple comes to us, and we embrace it. It is not ours in the sense of ownership or in being the creator of it. We are attached to the source of the light! Matthew’s account of the Mount of Transfiguration gives us an excellent example of what Jesus is describing. Jesus is “transfigured before them, His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2). The heart of the description is in the Greek word “metamorphoo,” translated as “transfigured.” It is two words forming one emphasis. “Meta” denotes a change of place or condition; “morphoe” relates to the form. Jesus’ nature did not change; however, we can see the true nature of Jesus. Jesus is the beginning of the New Covenant.
God transfigured Jesus before the disciples. In a brief moment, God revealed the Holy Spirit’s fullness as experienced in the New Covenant. Jesus said, “Here is what I want you to experience.” The indwelling Holy Spirit, the “Light,” begins to radiate through the life of Jesus. It is not an outside light shining upon Him but is the light of God within Him shining through Him. His clothes began to shine, like a flashlight covered with a cloth. His face shone like the sun. We must have a shining face! We are Jesus pushers!!!
