Jesus Pusher 63

I am a Jesus pusher!!! There is a significant contrast established by the use of the Greek word (doxan) translated glory in the New Testament. This word comes from the idea of “to think” or “to suppose.” From the aspect of glory it has to do with thought or opinion, especially favorable human opinion. Thus it refers to reputation, praise, honor, splendor, and light. There is a strong contrast between man’s opinion and God’s opinion. During Jesus’ ministry the leaders of Israel reject His message (opinion). Jesus calls upon the witnesses of the past to verify His message (John 5:31-35). He points out the testimony of the works of the Father through Him which validates His message (John 5:36). Even more convincing is the testimony of the Father who actually speaks of Him (John 5:37-40). Jesus quickly points out the problem they are having. He says, “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” (John 5:44). The Greek word (doxan) translated honor is the same as is often translated glory. Jesus was stating a basic condition within the leaders of Israel. They were not evil in the sense of deeds. They operated out of their own opinion (honor) and not the opinion (honor) of the Father.

The glory of man is human opinion; it is shifty, uncertain, and often based on error. This is contrasted with the glory (opinion) of Christ. It is absolutely true and changeless. God’s opinion marks the true value of things as they appear in the eternal mind. Often I have been self-sourced; I did the best I knew. My consistent failures tell me I need another opinion. Jesus is my Hero, my King! I am not wishing Him to tell me what to do. I want Him to source me until His perspective is mine. The way He feels is the way I feel; His mind becomes my mind. I want to be sourced by the King and live in His glory! I am a Jesus pusher!!!
