I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). What is our role? Jesus gives us an imperative, a command, to “shine.” He indicates we affect the light and its manifestation through our lives, found in this section’s imagery. Jesus speaks about “a lamp placed upon a lampstand.” The size and shape of the lamp affect its ability to shine. It is challenging to talk about this area. The reason is that this discussion produces separatist language. We begin to separate Him for ourselves as we describe His part in the shining and my part in the shining. We cannot let that happen! There can be no separation or division between us. It is never what I do and what He does, His part and my part. It is our part. We must be woven together in the formation of the Kingdom through which the light is now shining.
Our minds become one. I am to have the mind of Christ! I must not have my ideas, and He has His ideas; they must be our ideas. It must not be that I love as best I can. Then He goes beyond my love to express His. I do not do all I can; then He takes over to carry me beyond what I can accomplish. I am helpless to the most extreme degree. I have no legitimate love. He so infiltrates my love that the nature of love in me becomes His. It is now my love because He gives it to me, yet it is never mine because I can never produce it. Yet Jesus is expressing it through me as if it is mine. We become one in the expression! Jesus expressing through me is the purpose of my person. I am destined to be His; He is destined to be mine, the intimacy of the Kingdom of Heaven. “You are the light of the world” “so shine.” We are Jesus pushers!!!
