I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). The message of the cross (cross style) is one of death. The death of Jesus becomes our death that His life might become our life. We do not live our lives for Him; He lives His life through us. Jesus living through us removes us from a religion of “doing” or “works” and plants us into a “state of being.” However, the Bible never advocates a state of inactivity. The nature of Christ within the believer is always producing activity. In the imagery of Jesus, it is the influence of salt and light. There is a tension between being and doing or nature and works. It seems to confuse people, yet it is very simplistic. Anyone who advocates we did not believe in “works” proves he does not understand the cross style message. If you are living, you are breathing; if you are Kingdom people, you are acting. Faith never sits in the corner, hiding in inactivity. That is a lack of faith. When one lives in faith, he attacks the giant in the name of Jehovah, the message of Jesus. Light cannot abide under a basket; it demands a lampstand.
The “Formation of the Kingdom” presented in the Beatitudes is vital. Our helplessness is intimately linked to the person of Jesus. He becomes our total resource, and we depend on Him alone! That is a state of being. The phrase “your good works” does not have to be adjusted or explained away to maintain this state of being. Your life will be full of “your good works.” Jesus demonstrates through the Kingdom Person, and the Kingdom Person is a Jesus pusher!!!
