I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Jesus’ reference to “your good works” as expressions of the heart. He does not give a list of activities contained in this category. It is a description of the nature of the Kingdom of God expressed in every action. Luke highlights in the early church as they were “praising God and having favor with all the people” (Acts 2:47). Their activities had the sacrificial tone of the cross. God permeated their activities with the beauty of Christ’s nature, not any specific activity but all the individual’s actions, saturating the tone of their life with this element of Christ’s beauty. Paul referred to this as “the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Corinthians 2:15).
The desired result of these beautiful displays of Jesus’ nature is that everyone might “glorify your Father in heaven.” We focus everything on the One who resources the goodness of our works. The Kingdom of God influences all the activities of the individual with attractiveness. It is because Jesus, the Source, is attractive. We become an expression of His person. Is there anything more significant than being in oneness with Jesus and allowing the beauty of His heart to be lived through us? We are Jesus pushers!!!
