I am a Jesus pusher!!! Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Paul describes a great treasure planted within the life of an individual. It is “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). He refers to all the wonder of the Father’s presence indwelling the man called Jesus. It is this resource that caused the image of God to be seen through Jesus. He was the first man in the New Covenant to experience the sourcing of the Spirit. Paul continues, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Paul describes the Kingdom person as an “earthen vessel.” The Greek word “ostrakinos,” translated as “earthen,” is an adjective modifying “vessel.” It is an attempt to describe frailty.
The “earthen vessel” is a restatement of Jesus’ definition of the Kingdom of God. God fills those “poor in spirit” with the Spirit of Jesus and creates a new creature, the Kingdom of God. Paul describes the purpose behind this combination, “that the power may be of God and not of us.” He is my resource. Would you not be shocked if I did not burn with passion for glorifying Him? All that I am experiencing in and through Him compels me to worship Him. I want to spend all of my time glorifying and praising Him. He is my total focus, the center point of life, and the influential factor for life. I am a bride who is in love with the bridegroom. I am a Jesus pusher!
