I am a Jesus pusher!!! “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Jesus captures me! There is a passion burning in the heart of my being to glorify Him. Anything and everything reflecting negative towards Him, I eliminate from my life. Any language I might speak that treats Him lightly must go. My only desire is to please Him! However, as I get into the heart of Jesus, I experience His focus, which is others. It soon becomes apparent that His passion is to redeem others. If I have a passion for Him, I will align with His passion. What drives Him drives me because a passion for Him drives me.
I find a deep desire to change your perspective concerning Jesus, a reality ingrained in the imagery of “light.” Visibility is the focus of the light imagery. Jesus states it clearly by describing a city sitting upon a hill for visibility. Then Jesus returns to the imagery of light, “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket” (Matthew 5:15). He establishes two parallel impossibilities. A city on a hill is placed there by design to be seen and cannot be hidden; in like manner, one lights a lamp for visibility and does not put it under a basket. If you put a lamp on a lampstand, “it gives light to all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:15). The purpose of the lamp placed on the lampstand is to influence and affect those in the household. What does it mean for them to see the light? “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works” (Matthew 5:16). Its purpose is for “glorifying” (to influence one’s opinion about another, to enhance the latter’s reputation) “your Father in heaven.” I am a Jesus pusher!!!
