I am a Jesus pusher! “Your Father” is a statement beyond imagination (Matthew 5:16).
This dynamic reality naturally flows into a life pattern. We often speak of it; it never grows old. It is so huge in its impact that it startles us each time we see it highlighted. In our everyday living, it is the most remarkable alteration. It is such intimacy with God that we cease to serve Him; He serves through us. We no longer live for Him; He lives through us. We do not act on His behalf; He demonstrates Himself through us. We do not shine for Him; He shines through us. The source of our lives moves from “us” to “Him,” the impact of the Kingdom of Heaven found in the Beatitudes.
Jesus distinctly says, “Your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). The actual Greek statement is revealing and instructive. Jesus said, “The (ton) Father (patera) your (humon) the (ton) in (en) the (tois) heaven (ouranois).” The article “the” stresses the definite fact of the case. It is “the Father.” It is “the in.” It is “the heaven.” It is also essential to notice that “heaven” (ouranois) is plural in the Greek text. “Heaven” does not suggest a location where the throne of God dwells but indicates the spiritual world beyond our physical existence. He is transcendent! We are four-year-old children; our Father provides for us in ways beyond what we know. I am a Jesus pusher!
