I am a Jesus pusher!!! Let me remind you, I am not pushing doctrine, theology, or creed. My cry is about HIM! This is sharply contrasted with the devil. During the great temptation the devil promised Jesus, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me,” (Matthew 4:8). “All these things” referred to all the kingdoms of the world. This phrase appears at the very beginning of the devil’s statement. This means it is what he is emphasizing. I have found the devil is always about “things.” He constantly attempts to distract me from one “thing” to another “thing.” There is materialism, power, position, satisfaction of body drives, or stuff. It is always about “things.”I am a Jesus pusher; because He is about relationship not “things.” Relationship is eternal; “things” are temporal. Intimacy with Him is not a passing issue, but will endure forever. This is His focus regarding you. He values you more than He values “things.” Every “thing” was sacrificed for the sake of embracing you. Even His own life was not protected that He might embrace you. He held on to no position, even to the highest power as God in order to know you (Philippians 2:6, 7). To a scribe Jesus said, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head,” (Matthew 8:20). No “thing” has greater importance to Him than you and me. No wonder I am a Jesus pusher. He does not want what I can give Him; He wants me! His agenda is not service; I am not an errand boy. I am not a tool He uses. I am His beloved. He is my focus. I am a Jesus pusher!!!
