I am a Jesus Pusher! “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17). Jesus said, “I came” in a positive statement and also in the negative, “I did not come.” “The Coming One,” the Scriptures were given beforehand, give us insight and understanding of Jesus. Jesus preceded the Scriptures; He produced them! The statement in the Scriptures did not determine the actions of Jesus; instead, Jesus determined the Scriptures. “God is holy” not because the Scriptures say so, but the Scriptures declare He is holy because He is! Because He is “The Coming One,” He gave us a document of what He will look like when He comes.
The Scriptures seem to shape the life of Jesus; the Scriptures produced Him. The resurrected Lord said to His disciples, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you. That all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me” (Luke 24:44). As he was hanging on the cross, Jesus cried, “I thirst!” John explains, “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished that the Scriptures might be fulfilled said, “I thirst!” (John 19:28). He surrendered His life to the control of the Father and let the authority of the Written Word dictate His life. That is a privilege of the merger with Him. The inward Living Word and the outward Written Word come together to cause our lives. We are a product of His person speaking to us! I am a Jesus Person!
