I am a Jesus Pusher! “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled” (Matthew 5:18). Peter wrote, “But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7). The phrase “the same word” refers to the words God spoke in creating the “heavens and the earth.” The Word of God was before creation was responsible for the creation and will endure beyond creation! The psalmist saw the duration of creation compared to the nature of God. He wrote:“Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will have no end” (Psalms 102:25-27).
Jesus equating His own words with the Word of God is significant to notice. He said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35). What is true of the Scriptures as referenced by the Law is also true of Jesus’ teaching. They are timeless! He is the fulfillment of the Scriptures, the Word of God. It is not our understanding of the Scriptures that will never cease; what God said in the Scriptures is timeless. There is a depth of the Scriptures we have not reached! Jesus wants to fill you and share the depth of His Word with you. I am a Jesus pusher!
